Most people who grind their teeth aren’t even aware that they are doing it and are often confused by what they think are unrelated symptoms. Whilst around 80% of teeth grinding happens during the night, the resulting side effects are present during the day. These can include:
The technical term for this condition is Bruxism and it can have a negative impact on your oral and general health... from damaging and wearing down teeth to increasing teeth sensitivity and causing pain in the jaw, face and head.
At Bespoke Dental, we provide cutting-edge dental solutions to these night time problems. We will assess the health and function of your whole mouth to determine whether or not you’re bruxing your teeth at night.
Botulinum toxin A injections may help some people with severe teeth grinding (bruxism). Grinding/clenching can be a side effect of a medication (e.g. anti-depressants). Alternative medications may need to be considered for these cases.
Correcting teeth that aren’t properly aligned may help if your teeth grinding is related to dental problems. If the wear is causing increased sensitivity or an inability to chew properly, reshaping of the tooth surfaces, crowns or braces may need to be considered.
These anti-clenching devices can be worn at night to protect your teeth and jaw. The device will help to reduce side effects from the grinding to provide a restful, comfortable night’s sleep and reduce the chances of painful dental problems developing in the future.
